AWS is launching App Studio to democratize enterprise-ready AI application development
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced a new service called AWS App Studio at the AWS Summit New York. App Studio harnesses the power of generative AI to democratize enterprise-grade application development by allowing users to create fully functional enterprise-grade applications by writing what kind of application they want, describing what they want it to do, and pointing to any internal data sources the app should use.
Once users provide this information, App Studio creates a fully functional enterprise-ready application that would have taken days for a professional developer to finish. Apps created using the App Studio can easily be modified using the platform's point-and-click interface, and leveraging the support from a built-in AI-powered assistant that can provide users with instructions on performing several tasks.
AWS designed the App Studio for professionals with some technical experience; one of its early adopters, Campus Life & Style, reportedly had a team of two build a full application for data intake, management, and reporting used by 150 people. Moreover, it seamlessly integrates with various data sources and offers built-in security features, making it ideal for businesses of all sizes. Since it is geared towards professionals without advanced coding skills, App Studio also aims to eliminate the learning curve required by other low-code and no-code tools. Once the application is deployed, AWS handles scalability, governance, and security for the user, and provides visibility into the operations so administrators can track usage patterns, control access, and set guardrails to guarantee safety and compliance.
AWS has made it free to build with App Studio, so users only pay for the time teams spend using the applications. With this move, AWS can offer savings of up to 80% than similar offerings. Starting Wednesday, App Studio is available as a preview in the AWS US West (Oregon) region.
