Osavul raised €2.78M ($3M) to bring its information security platform to the private sector

There is a consensus forming around the fact that one of the most immediate risks related to generative AI concerns its use to accelerate and amplify misinformation and disinformation campaigns. In other words, mounting evidence shows that how these kinds of campaigns are created has not fundamentally changed with the rise of AI. These campaigns are still based on the spread of text containing falsehoods or media generated or manipulated to deliver the wrong message. What has changed is who can do it and how fast: generative AI models and AI-powered editing tools give nearly anyone the power to generate vast volumes of information within minutes, if not seconds.

Kyiv-based Osavul is a media intelligence company founded in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, whose AI-driven approach aims to counter the proliferation of information warfare. Osavul's platform leverages AI to help clients analyze and assess large volumes of information to uncover narratives, their sources, and their impact on the target audience, thus enabling clients to protect themselves from or launch countermeasures to these forms of information warfare. The company reports that it has partners in the EU, US, and APAC regions, and that it recently assisted NATO in analyzing targeted information warfare.

Osavul recently secured a €2.78M investment from 42CAP, u.ventures, and SMRK, which the company reports is one of the largest in Europe for the media intelligence sector. The funds will boost the company's growth, enabling it to expand its global presence, continue development on its proprietary algorithms, and increase its outreach efforts, including the expansion from the public to the private sector by offering B2B solutions.
