The NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud APIs extend Omniverse's capabilities for digital twins application and workflow creation
The NVIDIA Omniverse platform consists of APIs, SDKs, and services that help developers integrate RTX rendering technologies and Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) into their existing software tools and simulation workflows. The Omniverse SDK lets users build tools and workflows from scratch using low- and no-code sample apps and easy-to-modify extensions. Now, the Omniverse Cloud APIs enable users to enhance their applications and workflows with OpenUSD, RTX, accelerated computing, and generative AI technologies. Moreover, Omniverse enables the deployment of custom applications on any RTX-enabled workstations or virtual workstations. It also makes it possible to host and stream applications from the Omniverse Cloud platform-as-a-service.
The new Omniverse Cloud APIs can be used collectively or independently, and include: USD Render, which generates fully ray-traced OpenUSD data NVIDIA RTX™ renders, USD Write to let users interact with and modify their OpenUSD data, USD Query for the construction of scene queries and interactive scenarios, update and USD change tracker USD Notify, and Omniverse Channel, a tool enabling collaboration across users, tools and worlds.
In today's keynote, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang showcased Teamcenter X, Siemens' industry-leading cloud-based product lifecycle management (PLM) software. The Omniverse Cloud APIs enhance Teamcenter X with the ability to connect design data to NVIDIA generative AI APIs and use NVIDIA RTX rendering within Teamcenter X. In addition to Siemens, many heavy industries leaders also leverage the Omniverse Cloud APIs to solve several use cases. For instance, Ansys is adopting Omniverse APIs to enable data interoperability and RTX visualization in its autonomous vehicle and 6G simulation solutions. Similarly, computational software provider Cadence is adopting Omniverse Cloud APIs into its Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform to enable the design, simulation, and optimization of data centers in a digital twin before they are built. Omniverse Cloud APIs also connect the ecosystem of simulation tools and applications with industry-leading sensor solution providers to enable full-stack training and testing applications using physically based sensor simulation.
Omniverse Cloud APIs will be available first on Microsoft Azure and will be available for use on self-hosted and managed NVIDIA-based Azure products later this year. More details on the Omniverse platform are featured in the GTC keynote and the free-to-attend Omniverse sessions.
