AirTrunk said it secured a A$4.25 billion green loan to finance continued development of its SYD3 data-center campus in Western Sydney. Construction is underway, with AirTrunk expecting the work to be completed by mid-2028.

According to AirTrunk, a consortium of 32 local and international financial institutions backs the facility. Fourteen institutions are lead underwriters, while SMBC, HSBC and UOB are serving as green-loan coordinators. AirTrunk said the financing carries margin adjustments, allowing the borrowing margin to change under the loan terms. The company said contributions derived from margin savings will go to its social-impact program for local charities.

AirTrunk describes SYD3 as a 400-plus-megawatt campus across 8.3 hectares, with 70,000 square metres of technical data-hall area and 42 data halls. Those figures are the campus design specifications, not a statement that all of the planned capacity is operating.

Bouygues Construction announced an expanded contract for its subsidiary A W Edwards to continue delivering the campus. Bouygues valued the contract at €1.2 billion, or A$1.9 billion using its June 2026 reference exchange rate. In July, it said work was due to begin that month and completion was anticipated by mid-2028.

AirTrunk said the new loan lifts its disclosed committed debt financing to about A$38.4 billion globally, including more than A$19.8 billion for projects in Australia. No public financing agreement or filing was identified that independently confirms those company-reported totals.

The company also said it plans to invest another A$75 billion in Australia over the next decade and estimates the SYD3 project will support more than 10,000 jobs across construction, trades, engineering, logistics and safety. Both figures are forward-looking company forecasts, not completed investment or measured employment outcomes.

AirTrunk said SYD3 construction is using lower-carbon steel and concrete, with a target of diverting at least 90% of non-hazardous construction waste from landfill. The diversion rate is a target rather than a reported result.
