Anthropic extends free Claude Fable 5 access on paid plans to July 19

Anthropic extended free access to its Claude Fable 5 model on paid plans through July 19, 2026, the second time it has delayed a compute-driven cutoff, according to the company’s support page.

The deadline has now slipped twice — from an original July 7 date, to July 12, and now to 11:59 p.m. Pacific on July 19.

Subscribers on Pro, Max and Team plans, plus premium seats on seat-based Enterprise plans, can use Fable 5 for up to half of their weekly subscription limits at no extra cost before they must buy separate usage credits or switch models. The offer excludes Free users, standard Enterprise seats, usage-based Enterprise plans and API traffic.

Claude Code, Anthropic’s command-line coding tool, keeps weekly rate limits 50% higher through the same July 19 date. The promotional access is live across Claude’s web, mobile and desktop apps and several enterprise integrations.

Anthropic said the extension is meant to give users more time before the cutoff, and that Fable 5 will return to standard subscription inclusion once it has enough compute capacity.

The repeated delays point to how tight AI compute has become as rival models land in quick succession. Fable 5’s promotion follows OpenAI’s July 9 release of GPT-5.6 and xAI’s July 8 release of Grok 4.5.

If the cutoff holds this time, paid users lose bundled Fable 5 access on July 20; if compute stays scarce, a third extension would not be a surprise.
