Motive launches AI agents for fleet safety and maintenance workflows
Motive launched configurable Agents for fleet safety, maintenance and operations workflows, while natural-language and goal-driven capabilities remain planned for 2027.
Motive launched Agents on October 19, bringing customer-configured automation to fleet safety, maintenance and operational workflows. Customers set the conditions and actions; Motive says the software then monitors for those conditions and carries out the configured response.
At launch, Agents can turn customer-set triggers into email, SMS or app alerts, in-cab voice messages and maintenance actions. Motive says the workflows can recommend responses to fault codes, create work orders, mark vehicles out of service when specified criteria are met and issue service alerts.
Motive says customers can start with templates for idling, fault codes, fatigue and other cases, then tailor them or combine multiple triggers and actions in one Agent. In an idling example, the company says a workflow can account for ambient temperature, prompt a driver in the cab and alert a fleet manager when thresholds are breached.
Motive says Agents can improve safety, reduce downtime, lower costs and boost efficiency. Its announcement provides no independently validated performance results for Agents. The available sources also do not specify which customer plans, markets or vehicle configurations receive access, whether the feature costs extra, or what approval, override and failure-handling controls apply to safety-critical actions.
Motive’s roadmap separates today’s configured workflows from more autonomous capabilities. The company says voice-agent outreach to drivers through AI Dashcam Plus is planned for later in 2026. The ability to describe a workflow in natural language, outcome-driven Agents that determine a path toward a goal, and a library of Motive-built Agents requiring no configuration are planned for early 2027.
