NVIDIA launches DSX Ready qualification for AI-factory power and cooling
NVIDIA's DSX Ready program sets qualification paths for specific battery-storage and cooling products against its AI-factory reference-design requirements.
NVIDIA launched DSX Ready, a program that qualifies partner power and cooling products against applicable requirements in the company’s DSX AI-factory reference designs. Its first two categories cover battery energy storage systems, or BESS, and cooling distribution units, or CDUs.
DSX Ready adds a formal qualification layer between NVIDIA’s reference designs and specific infrastructure products, alongside the company’s broader DSX power-efficiency work. NVIDIA said the category-specific requirements and review can give AI-factory builders greater confidence when evaluating products, reduce integration risk and help move projects toward deployment. Those benefits remain NVIDIA’s claims: the company provided no customer deployments or operating data demonstrating them at launch.
At launch, NVIDIA named Hitachi Energy, LG Energy Solution and Tesla as providers of qualified BESS products. It named LG Electronics, LiquidStack and Vertiv as providers of qualified CDU products. BESS equipment stores and dispatches electricity; a CDU circulates coolant and manages its temperature, pressure and flow for liquid-cooled computing systems.
Each category follows a different qualification path. BESS partners run required tests and submit supporting data to NVIDIA for review and approval within a defined qualification boundary. CDU vendors assess a specific product with a self-qualification test suite based on NVIDIA’s applicable functional requirements.
The DSX Ready program page says the designation applies to a particular qualified product or solution, not to a supplier’s entire organization or portfolio. Criteria and validation paths vary by solution area, and NVIDIA has not published a program-wide qualification timeline. The company said it plans to add more infrastructure and software categories over time.
Vertiv separately said its 2.3-megawatt Vertiv CoolChip CDU was the first CDU to qualify specifically under the NVIDIA DSX Ready designation. NVIDIA said BESS qualification does not replace site-level engineering, while Vertiv said CDU qualification does not replace engineering for a particular site, configuration or operating requirement.
