OpenAI has launched its AI for Educators course in Brazilian Portuguese, bringing a localized edition of the training to OpenAI Academy, which the company describes as its free learning platform.

Designed for educators in primary, secondary and higher education, the course covers lesson planning, classroom activities, assessments and communications while preserving educators’ pedagogical judgment.

The release is separate from OpenAI’s College Planner preview for ChatGPT for Teens, which concerns a student-facing planning feature rather than educator training.

The public AI for Educators course page did not expose lesson-level details or language metadata in the version reviewed for this story. As a result, the localized interface and the contents of individual lessons could not be independently verified.

OpenAI’s announcement also directs educators to Study Mode, a separate ChatGPT feature rather than part of the new language release. OpenAI introduced Study Mode in July 2025, more than a year before it announced the Brazilian Portuguese course.

OpenAI says Study Mode uses questions, hints, step-by-step explanations and knowledge checks. The company says it developed the feature with custom system instructions created alongside teachers, scientists and pedagogy experts, and presents it as a way to encourage active participation in learning. The sources reviewed for this story do not independently establish that outcome.

OpenAI’s Study Mode guidance says the feature can make mistakes and may sometimes give a direct answer. It also says Study Mode does not replace teachers, course materials or academic requirements.
