OpenAI reportedly cuts fundraising target to about $20 billion
OpenAI reportedly cut its latest fundraising target by $10 billion; a separate account said it raised less than half of the original goal.
OpenAI reportedly cut the target for its latest funding round by $10 billion, bringing the amount sought to about $20 billion at a reported $1.25 trillion valuation. That would reduce the earlier $30 billion goal by one-third.
A separate account said the company had raised less than half of the original $30 billion target. The figures measure different things: about $20 billion is the revised amount reportedly being sought, while the other account describes the amount raised against the original goal at the time of publication.
The earlier fundraising plan reportedly valued OpenAI at $1.4 trillion, compared with the newer reported valuation of $1.25 trillion.
OpenAI had not confirmed the revised target, amount raised, valuation or financing status in a newsroom disclosure located during research as of Oct. 31.
