xAI and Cursor launch Grok Bot, always-on agents, under the new SpaceXAI banner

xAI and Cursor launched Grok Bot on August 11, 2026, a team of always-on AI agents that each get a dedicated cloud computer and complete multi-step jobs without step-by-step supervision.

The agents operate a computer environment, log into apps and email, retain prior conversations and are messaged like a colleague to hand off tasks, xAI said. It is a bid to push agents past the chat window into persistent workers that run jobs in the background.

Access is bundled into three subscription tiers — SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium — each including Grok Bot’s dedicated computer, tool sign-ins, scheduled routines and extended token limits. The app shipped for desktop and iOS.

The launch also formalizes a corporate reshuffle: it follows SpaceX’s $60 billion deal to acquire Cursor, with SpaceX, Cursor and xAI now merging into a single group under the SpaceXAI name.

Giving an autonomous agent standing access to a user’s email and logged-in apps raises the stakes of any error or prompt injection, and xAI has not published independent evidence of how reliably the agents complete real multi-step work. Persistent, credentialed agents are the direction the industry is chasing; whether they can be trusted with production access is the unresolved part.
