Hedra emerged from stealth with $10M from Index Ventures, Abstract, and A16Z Speedrun.
Hedra, an AI startup founded by Stanford PhDs, has emerged from stealth with a $10M seed funding round, introducing Character-1, the fastest video foundation model on the market, which has already generated 1.6 million videos for over 350,000 users.
Hedra is the latest generative AI startup to offer a video generation model turbocharged with the latest technologies. In addition to launching its video generation model, which Hedra claims is the fastest video foundation model on the market, the company is emerging from stealth with a $10M seed funding round led by Index Ventures, Abstract, and A16Z Speedrun. Founded by Stanford PhDs with industry experience at NVIDIA, Google, and Meta, Hedra aims to transform storytelling through advanced AI technology.
Besides its remarkable speed, Character-1 lets users generate longer, character-centric videos and allows unprecedented expressive control over the generations. Since its June release, the platform has seen over 350,000 users create more than 1.6 million videos. These include minute-long dramatic monologues, marketing videos, educational content, and even a wave of digital influencers and AI popstars. With safety built into Hedra's design, the platform features a leading moderation filter that includes screening language for violence, hate, and celebrity images.
The next step for Hedra is to evolve its platform into a unified workflow platform that combines story, audio, and video generation and gives users the tools to create custom digital characters with unique appearances, voices, and personalities.
