Acrab raises $130 million Series B for its agentic edge-AI chip platform

Singapore-based AI infrastructure startup Acrab has raised a $130 million Series B led by existing backers Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India and Vertex Growth. New investors also joined, and cumulative funding now exceeds $480 million.

Founded in 2024, Acrab builds a full-stack agentic AI compute platform that combines custom silicon, edge AI models and software orchestration — an attempt to run AI agents on-device rather than in the cloud.

The company recently launched GELIX 1, an edge AI system-on-chip that it says can run open-source models of up to 100 billion parameters locally, along with a GELIX 1-powered Agent Box.

Most agentic AI still runs in centralized data centers. Acrab is betting that factories, vehicles and other industrial sites will want to run capable models locally for lower latency, lower cost and tighter data control.

Proceeds will go toward scaling production, expanding its technology ecosystem and next-generation compute research, Acrab said. The company expects to begin generating revenue this year through industrial deployments.

The GELIX 1 performance claims come from Acrab and have not been independently benchmarked, and the company has not yet reported revenue. Whether a startup can sustain custom-silicon development against far larger chipmakers is the open question behind the round.
