EverWind outlines more than $10 billion Nova Scotia data-center and wind buildout

EverWind says it plans to invest more than $10 billion in a data-center campus at Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, and related wind projects. The 95-megawatt first phase is targeted for late 2027. In its project announcement, the company said it signed a long-term lease with an unnamed frontier AI developer covering that first phase.

The announcement does not say the lease covers the planned expansion. EverWind is targeting another 325 MW in 2028, but said that phase remains subject to commercial, technical and regulatory conditions, including system studies and approvals. If completed, the two stages would give the campus 420 MW of capacity.

EverWind says more than $8 billion of the announced investment would go toward developing, building, owning and financing the campus. It earmarked $2 billion for the Bear Lake, Windy Ridge, Kmtnuk and Upper Afton onshore wind projects, which it said would help meet growing industrial demand, including demand from the campus. The figures describe planned private investment, not money already spent.

The design includes several hundred megawatt-hours of battery storage and controls that EverWind says could reduce or stop grid draw when required for reliability. Under the company’s current assumptions, closed-loop water-glycol cooling would use about 100,000 litres of water a day in the first phase and about 500,000 litres at full buildout. Those specifications are planned features, not observed operating performance.

EverWind projects about 2,000 construction positions across the staged development and 215 permanent jobs across the campus and wind portfolio. The company also said negotiations are underway with a First Nations consortium led by Membertou Development Corporation for an ownership stake; it disclosed no completed agreement.
