Facebook adds natural-language controls for Feed and Reels recommendations
Meta is rolling out Your Algorithm, a Facebook feature that lets users name topics and give freeform feedback to adjust Feed and Reels recommendations.
Meta is rolling out Your Algorithm on Facebook, giving users direct controls to add or manage topics and say, in their own words, what they want to see more or less of in Feed and Reels. The feature adds an explicit way to shape recommendations alongside the behavioral signals Facebook already uses to infer preferences.
Users can open Your Algorithm from the three-dot menu on a post. Meta says it updated that menu across posts to make recommendation controls easier to reach. After selecting “Interested” or “Not interested” on a Feed or Reels post, a user may see follow-up questions and enter freeform feedback.
Meta says large language models interpret the interests, context and intent in that feedback so its ranking systems can use the request. The company says the text is combined with its existing understanding of a user, including signals such as likes, comments and viewing behavior, rather than replacing those signals.
Meta says recommendations can update in real time and adapt within the same session to reflect a natural-language request. The company did not provide a quantitative evaluation or testing methodology for those responsiveness claims. The announcement also did not specify geography, account eligibility, rollout timing, or how freeform recommendation feedback is stored and retained.
