Intel CEO says company will keep working on Musk’s Terafab
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said the chipmaker will continue working with Elon Musk on Terafab, while Intel’s role and the project’s final structure remain undisclosed.
Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said Intel will continue working with Elon Musk on Terafab, confirming that the chipmaker remains involved as Musk considers a possible role for TSMC. The statement does not establish what Intel will contribute or how the participants will divide the work.
Intel said in April that it had partnered with SpaceX, xAI and Tesla to support Terafab and explore ways to refactor silicon process technology. Tan’s latest statement confirms that work is continuing, but the available evidence does not show a new or amended contract.
Musk had earlier confirmed preliminary TSMC talks on Terafab without announcing a settled arrangement. He later said Tesla and SpaceX would build and operate Terafab, while TSMC might sublease part of the complex.
Intel’s precise scope, commercial terms, investment and ownership position remain undisclosed. The available evidence also does not establish whether TSMC will participate or how its role would coexist with Intel’s work.
