Butterfly Effect, the parent company of Manus, said it closed a funding round of more than $500 million. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital co-led the round, while existing investors Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund also participated, according to the company.

The financing gives the AI-agent developer fresh capital after the unwind of Meta’s acquisition and its return to independent operation. Manus said it had formally resumed independent operations, with its founding team continuing to lead the company.

Manus did not disclose the completed round’s valuation or the exact amount raised above $500 million. The company had previously been seeking about $500 million at a $4 billion valuation, but the available evidence for the completed round does not establish that valuation as a final term.

The round follows the reversal of Meta’s planned acquisition of Manus. Manus develops general-purpose AI agents designed to handle tasks including research and automation with limited human input.
