ServiceNow launches Flow conversational AI service desk
ServiceNow launched Flow, a standalone conversational AI service desk that brings chat-first employee support to smaller teams and satellite departments.
ServiceNow launched Flow, a conversational AI service desk for handling employee requests and building recurring-task automations through natural-language exchanges. The standalone product targets smaller organizations and satellite departments that want a lighter service desk without deploying the full ServiceNow platform.
Flow works inside Slack, Microsoft Teams and email, so employees can ask for help without opening a portal or filing a form. ServiceNow says the system can draw answers from an organization’s existing knowledge and hand complex or sensitive requests to human support staff while preserving the conversation context.
Support teams can describe recurring-request automations in plain English. ServiceNow says Flow then drafts the steps, connects the required actions, identifies missing information and lets teams simulate a workflow before it runs against a live system. Administrators can limit each team’s access, require human approval for selected actions and retain logs of automation runs, adding governance to a conversational workflow with controlled tools.
ServiceNow says Flow offers out-of-the-box connections to more than 100 business applications, with access scoped by team. Existing ServiceNow customers can synchronize Flow with a ServiceNow instance and use their current knowledge and configuration-management context. According to the company, Flow was built outside the ServiceNow platform and does not require a full platform deployment.
In the launch post, Flow’s head of product wrote that he had watched the product work with a dozen early-access customers. The post did not include independently audited adoption, performance, resolution-rate or time-saving metrics.
ServiceNow described the service desk as Flow’s starting point and said it does not intend to stop there. The launch post did not document additional use cases as available.
