TypeSafe AI said it raised $870 million in a Series A that valued the company at $7.5 billion. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, the company said, with Sequoia Capital, existing investor DCVC and unnamed angel investors also participating.

Andreessen Horowitz confirmed that it led the investment. TypeSafe said the firm’s general partner Martin Casado will join its board.

The financing gives TypeSafe additional capital as it develops Jev, its first public System One model, and other machine-native models. The company announced Jev’s early-access availability in September.

TypeSafe describes Jev as a model designed for software. Rather than generating text, it takes unstructured input and returns typed probabilistic decisions intended for direct use by applications. The $870 million round size, $7.5 billion valuation and investor participation are company-disclosed terms also carried by independent reports. TypeSafe did not say whether the valuation was pre-money or post-money, disclose the ownership stake sold or state whether the financing included secondary share sales.
