OpenAl announces DevDay, its very first developer conference

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has announced its first-ever developer conference. The one-day event will take place on November 6 in San Francisco. Per the announcement, the conference will feature in-person breakout sessions led by OpenAI’s technical staff. Furthermore, the live-streamed keynote will be accessible for developers everywhere.

While it is true that OpenAI broke out into the social media spotlight after releasing the first demo of ChatGPT in November 2022, another milestone for the company was the launch of its API platform. OpenAI’s platform is continuously updated so developers can harness the power of the company’s cutting-edge models GPT-4, GPT-3.5, DALL·E, and Whisper into smart assistants integrated with existing applications or build new applications and services from scratch.

Sam Altman, the company’s CEO, stated that OpenAI is “looking forward to showing our latest work to enable developers to build new things.” There are no additional details regarding the kind of work that OpenAI plans to showcase in its keynote. ArsTechnica reported on the unlikelihood of OpenAI introducing something similar to GPT-5 in the keynote; however, it may not be out of place to expect the unexpected.
