AI data labeling company Sapien announces $5 million funding round

Sapien is a leading data annotation company founded in 2023 and characterized by its novel approach: the company gamifies the data annotation process with blockchain-based rewards working as an incentive for its human annotator network to provide accurate annotations. Sapien already boasts paying customers in a diverse range of industries, including healthcare, web3, education and leading LLMs. The company has built an industry-leading network of human-powered AI training data, which is available to enterprises and organizations through its high quality AI data marketplace. Sapien's seed funding round was backed by Primitive Ventures, Animoca, Artichoke Capital, and Yield Guild Games. The raised funds will accelerate "Sapien's mission of providing scalable, high-quality annotation services for training AI models through its novel gamified data labeling platform." More specifically, the funding will enable Sapien to further develop and open-source its gamified labeling infrastructure.
