In a recent video posted to Instagram, Adam Mossieri (Head of Instagram) shared Meta's plans to launch more generative AI features for creators on the platform. Powered by the recently previewed Movie Gen model suite, the new features will reportedly help creators modify their videos to make their vision a reality. This includes letting creators change their outfits in the video, add accessories to their existing look, replace the video's background and context, and even change their full appearance.

Mossieri's video showcases these capabilities: the video features him switching locations, changing outfits, adding a chain around his neck, and even transforming into a puppet version of himself. Although no further details have been revealed, the general idea seems to be that, since these tools will be powered by Movie Gen, creators will be able to control the look of their finished videos using text prompts (and possibly reference images).

Instagram's announcement appears to be the latest in the ongoing race to apply video generation models to work in editing and content creation environments. Earlier this year, Adobe announced its own foundation video generation model, Firefly Video Model, and that it was looking to power generative AI features in its Premiere Pro software using proprietary and third-party foundation models.
