Anthropic disclosed about $895.4 billion in committed spending, substantially all for compute and infrastructure, in a November 2 amendment to its initial public offering registration statement.

Anthropic filed the amendment after its public filing of its initial S-1 on October 26. The $895.4 billion figure covers contractual obligations extending as far as 2045, not current-period spending. Anthropic said about $69.8 billion is expected in the 12 months after September 30, 2026, about $447.5 billion through 2030, and substantially all of the remainder from 2031 through 2045. Payment timing and, in some cases, amounts may change as capacity is delivered.

The filing’s September 30 obligations table totaled $319.993 billion: $313.819 billion of purchase commitments, $4.224 billion of operating leases and $1.950 billion of finance leases. The broader total also includes $17.4 billion of short-term minimum payments, $451.2 billion of executed leases that had not begun, $100.2 billion of future minimum obligations entered after September 30 and $6.6 billion of post-quarter short-term minimum payments.

Of the aggregate, about $213.8 billion is tied to arrangements with termination rights or conditions before commencement. The total excludes some compute and infrastructure arrangements without fixed dollar commitments; Anthropic estimated payments under those contracts at $150 billion to $175 billion after capacity is delivered.

Anthropic said a significant share of the commitments supports “Anthropic Direct,” under which it leases chips and has them hosted in dedicated facilities operated on its behalf. The company expects that model to account for a growing share of its compute investment.

Separately, Anthropic reported $5.0 billion of short-term compute costs among the expenses contributing to a $567 million operating loss for the three months ended September 30. The company said it expects its infrastructure build-out to remain a significant use of operating and investing cash for the foreseeable future and plans to fund the investments with revenue and raised capital. It reported $146.6 billion of liquidity at September 30, before IPO proceeds, plus as much as $77.0 billion of financing capacity under note-purchase agreements and up to $5.0 billion of equity commitments.
