Cisco adds collaborative agents to Webex, with Claude and Dialog still ahead

Cisco introduced collaborative agents for Webex, but its Claude integration and Dialog customer-service harness remain on the roadmap.

Cisco introduced collaborative AI agents for Webex conversations and multi-step work. Its Claude integration and Dialog customer-service harness, however, remain future releases rather than generally available products.

The agents can be invited into Webex spaces, meetings and calls to work across Webex and approved third-party applications, Cisco said in its October 7 WebexOne announcement. Cisco did not provide a general-availability date, rollout scope or pricing for that capability.

Claude’s status is clearer. Cisco said Claude, powered by Claude Managed Agents, is “coming soon” to Webex spaces, meetings and calls. The company expects it to use shared conversation context for analysis, content creation and follow-up work, but did not give a release date or packaging details. Anthropic describes Managed Agents as its hosted service for long-horizon agent work; that description explains the underlying service but does not independently establish the Webex integration or its timing.

Cisco draws a distinction between the two directions of its OpenAI dots integration. Webex Suite’s Model Context Protocol integration can now send Webex context from meetings, calls and messages into dots. The reverse experience—bringing dots into Webex as a digital teammate—is described by Cisco as coming soon and as a future feature in the company’s newsroom announcement.

For customer service, Cisco introduced Dialog as an agentic harness for the Webex AI Agent platform. The company says Dialog is designed to keep agents working after a conversation ends, coordinate people, other agents and backend systems, retain customer context across channels, learn from outcomes and human judgment within company policy, and onboard agents from existing conversations, policies and procedures. Cisco attributes to that design the expected benefit of reducing fragmented interactions and carrying work through to a customer’s desired outcome; it supplied no independent performance or adoption data.

Dialog is an announcement, not a generally available launch. Cisco’s detailed customer-experience post says the company anticipates beta availability in the first quarter of calendar 2027. The same post cautions that many announced products and features remain in development and that release timing may change.

Cisco also says Webex AI Agents will operate with safety guardrails from Cisco AI Defense and live telemetry and operational observability powered by Splunk. For broader context on agent-related threats, Cisco research into autonomous-agent security risks examines a separate malware design rather than the Webex product. Cisco did not publish independent evidence in the supplied materials showing how the announced controls or workflow benefits perform in customer deployments.
