Sandisk posts $11 billion quarter as data-center revenue jumps 61%
Sandisk expects fiscal second-quarter revenue of $12.2 billion to $12.6 billion after data-center sales reached $4.802 billion.
Sandisk reported $11.031 billion in fiscal first-quarter revenue, up 23% from the preceding quarter. Its data-center revenue rose even faster, climbing 61% sequentially.
The company forecast fiscal second-quarter revenue of $12.2 billion to $12.6 billion. The quarter ended Oct. 2, and the result topped the $10.3 billion to $10.8 billion range Sandisk had forecast in August. Data-center revenue reached $4.802 billion, up from $2.977 billion in the preceding quarter. Edge revenue rose 7% sequentially to $5.832 billion, while consumer revenue fell 29% to $397 million.
Chief Executive David Goeckeler attributed the data-center increase to “robust and growing demand” for Sandisk products. The statement reflects management’s interpretation of demand.
The company said the results were preliminary and could change when it files its Form 10-Q after closing procedures, final adjustments and review by its independent registered accounting firm.
