SoftBank said on July 2, 2026 that it will establish SB Neo, Inc. (a tentative name) in the United States to run a neocloud business selling GPU computing to enterprises and hyperscalers. The venture is built around an infrastructure pipeline SoftBank plans to scale toward 10 gigawatts. A neocloud is a specialized provider that rents out GPU capacity for AI work rather than general cloud services.

The venture pushes SoftBank from investing in AI compute to selling it directly, in a US market where demand for training and inference capacity keeps outrunning supply. SB Neo will be owned 51 percent by SoftBank Corp., the telecom operator, and 49 percent by SoftBank Group Corp., the investment holding company.

SB Neo plans to launch services in fiscal 2027, the year ending March 31, 2028, then add capacity in phases toward that 10-gigawatt scale. It builds on SoftBank Corp.'s Infrinia AI Cloud OS software stack, which has run a beta GPU cloud in Japan since May 2026.

“The SoftBank Group will work together to deploy world-class AI infrastructure and drive the AI revolution,” SoftBank Group Chairman and Chief Executive Masayoshi Son said. SoftBank Corp. President and Chief Executive Junichi Miyakawa cited strong US demand and progress toward securing the 10 gigawatts of power the plan requires.

The headline capacity is a plan, not installed hardware: reaching 10 gigawatts assumes SoftBank can secure power, land and GPUs at a scale few operators have hit, and services do not begin until fiscal 2027. Meta has also outlined plans to enter the neocloud business, a sign that the largest AI spenders now see selling capacity as a business rather than only a cost.
