The world's largest grassroots AI community has officially rebranded as The AI Collective and announced its incorporation as a non-profit organization. As part of its rebranding, The AI Collective is launching three foundational initiatives aimed at helping bridge the deepening gap between the ever-accelerating technological development and a society that increasingly struggles to adapt to such a dizzying pace of change.

Formerly known as The GenAI Collective, the organization now boasts over 70,000 members across 25+ global chapters, with partnerships including AWS, Meta, Anthropic, and other major tech companies. The AI Collective's official launch follows a social media reveal this Monday, and coincides with flagship launch events currently taking place in San Francisco, New York City, and other global chapters.

Addressing the AI Alignment Gap

"Trust is the invisible thread holding society together, and right now, that thread is fraying under the strain of misaligned incentives and rapid, uncoordinated change," said Chappy Asel, co-founder and Executive Director of The AI Collective.

With its three foundational initiatives, the organization is responding to what it sees as a critical disconnect between AI's rapid advancement and society's ability to adapt and govern these powerful technologies responsibly

1. Global Community Expansion: The AI Collective plans to launch 100 chapters across six continents by year-end, hosting salons, hackathons, and mentorship circles. The network will converge at Singularity Fest in November 2025 in San Francisco, expecting 10,000 attendees.

2. The AI Collective Institute: A participatory research arm, the AI Collective Institute will connect frontier technologists directly with policymakers and industry leaders, translating technical insights into practical governance guidance.

3. Collective Investments: A founder-investor matchmaking program that identifies and supports entrepreneurs building trustworthy AI, connecting them with values-aligned capital allocators.

Impressive Track Record

Since its founding in 2023, the organization has facilitated the launch of 200+ AI startups through demo nights, with participating companies raising over $72 million in subsequent funding. The community includes members from OpenAI, Anthropic, Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, and other leading AI companies.

The AI Collective's evolution resonates with the growing recognition that technical advancement alone isn't sufficient. Deliberate community-driven efforts are needed to ensure AI development serves humanity's broader interests.
