A new experimental feature lets YouTube creators brainstorm video ideas with Gemini
The YouTube Studio Inspiration tab is getting an experimental update called "Brainstorm with Gemini" which integrates Google's multimodal AI-powered assistant to support users as they are creating video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. The feature is not ready for general availability, so Google has decided to roll it out to a select group of YouTube Studio creators.
The Gemini integration is meant to complement an existing AI-powered feature in the Inspiration tab, "Ideas and Outlines" which lets users type an idea and have YouTube tell them how interested their audiences would be, provide similar ideas, and show them related videos their audiences have watched. More generally, the "Brainstorm with Gemini" feature fits nicely with Google's effort to integrate its Gemini Assistant across more of its products and services to build up its generative AI offerings and keep users from turning to offerings from competing firms.
The move to test "Brainstorm with Gemini" is consistent with Google's strategy to appeal to content creators thus far. Rather than focusing on enabling users to create avatars and digitize other aspects of themselves as Instagram and TikTok have done, Google's strategy is centered on supporting users throughout the content creation process. Google has stated that it will consider a broader rollout of "Brainstorm with Gemini" once it has gathered feedback from the creators using it.
