Adept announced it will undergo substantial restructuring and refocus its business strategy
Adept, an AI company best known for its ambitious plan to train AI-powered agents that could autonomously complete software-based workflows, has announced a significant shift in its strategy and structure. To deliver on this mission, Adept has been developing multimodal foundation models to fine-tune them into enterprise-ready Agents to which employees could delegate tedious and repetitive computer-based tasks.
However, the announcement establishes that Adept will seek to maintain momentum by renouncing fundraising (and likely training) for its foundation models to focus exclusively on agentic AI solutions. According to the company, these solutions will be powered by in-house models, agentic data, web interaction software, and custom infrastructure. This plan will be boosted by Amazon's decision to license Adept's agent technology, multimodal models, and select datasets.
The caveat to this shift in strategy is that Adept's co-founders and other team members will join Amazon's AGI organization. As a result, Zach Brock, formerly Head of Engineering, is stepping up as Adept's new CEO, while Tim Weingarten remains Head of Product. Brock is an experienced entrepreneur and former CEO, with substantial leadership experience in SMB and Enterprise software organizations. Tim Weingarten, also an experienced former CEO, has been elected to continue in his position out of the confidence that he is the best person to lead Adept's product development efforts.
According to the company, this redirection of its business strategy reflects the potential and widespread interest in the technology the company is building. The new Adept leadership took the announcement as an opportunity to express its enthusiasm about executing Adept's new product-focused vision, which aims at helping a diverse range of businesses solve real-world problems.
