AI Overviews is now available in even more locations

AI Overviews, the Search feature that came out of Labs in May to a slight controversy in which it was caught suggesting that users eat rocks as a source of minerals, and use glue to get cheese to stick to pizza, will be available in over 100 countries and territories starting this week. This major expansion follows the launch of AI Overviews in the UK, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil this August.

When announcing this first expansion, Google also shared it was experimenting with more ways to display the links to the original sources, including a right-hand panel and adding the links directly to the AI Overviews text. Moreover, the company also launched two AI Overviews features: the capability to save AI Overviews for future reference, and to simplify the language in some English-language Overviews.

Now, in the latest expansion, AI Overviews will not only be available in over 100 countries and territories, but it will also feature more supported languages, including Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Links will continue to appear in the right-hand display on the desktop experience (on mobile, the panel has to be deployed first using the icons on the upper right), as will the in-line links. Finally, the recently announced inclusion of ads in AI Overviews continues to be available only for US-based users of the mobile experience.
