AMD's Embedded+ will enable its partners to deliver AI applications faster

The recently launched AMD Embedded+ delivers the ultra-low latency and deterministic responsiveness required by applications leveraging sensor data. In most applications for industrial and medical automated systems, the value of sensor data quickly diminishes over time. Thus, if value is to be preserved, sensor data must be processed almost as fast as it is generated so it can function as the basis for decisions that increase efficiency, precision, and safety.

To this end, AMD Embedded+ combines AMD Ryzen Embedded processing and Radeon graphics with Versal adaptive SOCs in an integrated card via PCIe to deliver a software platform-supported architecture compatible with multiple sensors. The Ryzen Embedded processing provides power-efficient performance with Radeon graphics and multi-display configuration options, and the Versal AI Edge adaptive SOCs accelerate every stage of the application with simultaneous industrial safety and cybersecurity standards support.

The Embedded+ technology will be available for customers via a selection of original design manufacturer (ODM) boards, with the Sapphire Edge+ VPR-4616-MB being the first of its kind. This capable board requires as little as 30W of power to leverage the features in its Ryzen Embedded R2314 processor and Versal AI Edge VE2302 Adaptive SoC. The Sapphire Edge+ VPR-4616-MB will be available as a board and in the form of a standalone system, which includes memory, power supply, storage, and a chassis.
