Rovo AI was first announced earlier this year as a collection of AI-powered productivity-boosting tools comprising Rovo Search, Rovo Chat, and Rovo Agents. Since then, the product underwent beta testing under a closed program where a group of Atlassian customers provided feedback to improve Rovo AI before its final launch. In addition to announcing the Rovo AI general availability, Atlassian has also shared the details on new AI-powered features coming to its platform.

The core of the Rovo AI product is Rovo Search, which helps users connect multiple knowledge sources, both proprietary and third-party, into a single platform to unearth relevant and actionable information. Although Rovo Search is a standalone tool, users also have the option to conversationally ask questions about their data with Rovo Chat, a knowledge expert tailored to each organizations needs. In addition to being available within the Atlassian platform, Rovo Chat now features a browser extension that brings the experience to every website and cloud based service, like Google Docs.

Finally, no enterprise AI solution would be complete without agents, and Rovo AI is no exception. Rovo Agents are AI-powered assistants designed to take over the repetitive, low-level tasks in a specific workflow to boost productivity and free up time for employees. Atlassian offers pre-built Rovo Agents but customers can also build their own or pick from the selection offered by its Marketplace partners. The company plans to gradually expand the capabilities of its agents, starting with AI-powered coding assistance. Atlassian's most recent AI agents (currently in early preview) can support developers with tasks such as generating code plans, code recommendations, and pull requests in Jira, perform code reviews to receive suggestions, and bring an organization's knowledge to GitHub Copilot.

Although Rovo AI is the main effort to bring AI to the Atlassian platform, the company also announced it is working on AI features for Jira, to, for instance, group related alerts, priorize critical incidents, and generate post-incident reviews. The Jira Service Management Slack virtual service agent experience now enjoys wider availability. Finally, AI integrations in Loom will include document generation in more than 50 languages, automated bug report, page creation, and population of Jira issues from Loom video screenshots.
