Exactly.ai raised $4.3M to empower visual artists with customized algorithms

Exactly.ai is a startup looking to develop AI in a way that works for artists, rather than threatening to replace them. The startup lets users train a model using at least ten consistent, high-quality examples of their artwork paired with textual descriptions of the contents of each piece. The trained model will generate images imitating the style of the provided artwork. By doing this, exactly.ai's models can empower artists by facilitating faster workflows and artwork reproduction at scale. The platform also aims to help artists retain copyright rights over their work.

The platform achieves this by guiding itself with several transparent principles: uploaded content and trained models belong to the artists, as do the generated outputs from the models. Moreover, rights from the images generated by models belonging to someone else can be obtained directly from the model owner (as opposed to the platform working as a licensing middleman). By letting artists retain their rights over their work, exactly.ai also enables them to decide if they want to make their work available for free or in exchange for payment.

Regardless of how artists decide to share their work, Exactly.ai aims to be profitable by charging a monthly fee to its users. A free tier allows 3 models per user, admits 25 public generations in total, and only supports 1080х1080 resolution outputs. The paid Standard tier costs $200 monthly, increases the number of models to 5, and supports 250 monthly public or private generations at an up to 4K resolution. Lastly, the $400 per month Pro tier allows unlimited models and generations with the same characteristics as the Standard tier.

The company successfully closed a $4.3 million seed funding round led by Speedinvest and supported by InReach Ventures, Cornerstone VC, GuruDev Capital, and a selection of angel investors. Exactly.ai plans to use the funds to hire and increase outreach to artists and creative professionals and to improve its model, a combination of the foundational model offered by Picsart and exactly.ai's algorithm.
