GitHub announced the general availability of Copilot Chat in GitHub Mobile
The general availability of the GitHub Copilot Chat in GitHub mobile means that developers can access the AI-powered assistant anywhere they use mobile devices. In addition to answering coding questions, Copilot Chat can hold conversations about over 100,000 top GitHub repositories to fulfill the general purpose of enabling all developers to understand and build code on the go. This, in turn, contributes to GitHub's mission to turn natural language into a default part of the coding process to, among other things, lower the barrier of entry and democratize access to software development as a career.
GitHub Copilot Chat was developed with cases like helping developers understand snippets of code written by colleagues, or learn a new framework. The general availability of Copilot Chat in GitHub mobile expands on these cases, enabling them to happen regardless of whether users are on a desktop or using their mobile devices to stay connected while on the go. Moreover, GitHub Copilot Enterprise users can also extend queries about private codebases and repositories to their mobile devices. Users with a GitHub Copilot Individual license can use the Copilot Chat on their mobile devices without further actions. Non-license holders can purchase an Individual license through the app. Developers using GitHub Copilot through a Business or Enterprise license need to ask an administrator to enable Copilot Chat on mobile, and administrators can enable the service by activating it in the Copilot tab on the organization's settings page.
