Hearst partners with OpenAI to bring newspaper and magazine content to ChatGPT
OpenAI and Hearst have confirmed an agreement to give OpenAI access to Hearst's archive of US-based newspapers and magazine editions, including the San Francisco Chronicle, Cosmopolitan, and Runner's World.
Hearst recently announced it has negotiated a partnership with OpenAI to bring content from its newspapers and US magazine editions to OpenAI's products. The partnership covers over 20 magazine brands and more than 40 newspapers, including popular titles such as the Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Runner’s World, and Women’s Health, enabling ChatGPT's users to access high-quality local news and content on diverse lifestyle topics. As with other content licensing partnerships, Hearst's content on Chat GPT and other OpenAI products will be properly attributed and include direct citations that allow users to visit the source of the content they see easily.
The announcement follows similar partnerships between OpenAI and major US news and media publishers The Atlantic, Vox Media, and News Corp.
