Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude, a US beta that gives eligible subscribers read-only analysis of bank and card accounts they choose to connect through Plaid. The November 5 announcement said rollout would begin that week for Pro, Max, and Ultra subscribers.

Claude can read balances and up to 24 months of transaction history from the accounts a user chooses to share. It cannot move, manage, or invest money. The beta is rolling out gradually on the web, desktop, iOS, and Android, and it is not available on Claude’s Free, Team, or Enterprise plans.

Users authenticate with their financial institution through Plaid, then select the accounts they want to connect. Anthropic says Claude does not request or see a user’s bank password. From shared accounts, Claude can read the bank and account names, account type, last four digits, balances, and credit limits. Transaction records can include the amount, date, merchant, category, and the bank’s description.

Access is narrower for investment, loan, and card accounts. Anthropic’s support documentation says Claude currently receives balances and credit limits from those accounts, but not holdings, trades, interest rates, or loan terms. The company also says Personal Finance is not designed to provide investment advice and warns that Claude can make mistakes, so users should verify important figures with their bank.

Anthropic says conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train its models. The company uses financial data to answer a user’s requests, and that data may appear in conversations that remain in chat history until the user deletes them, subject to Anthropic’s retention practices. Anthropic’s service providers may process bank data, while Plaid handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. Information shared with Claude outside the hub is governed by the user’s privacy settings.

Users can turn Plaid access off or on for individual chats, unlink a bank, or disconnect Claude through Plaid. Disconnecting stops Claude from reading the bank, but content Claude already generated can remain in chats, artifacts, or shared links until the user removes it. Anthropic says chats that use linked accounts are designed not to save content to memory, be searchable later, or appear in a user’s monthly recap.
