Roblox launches Build, a mobile AI tool that turns text prompts into games
Roblox launched Build on July 16, 2026, a mobile AI feature that turns text prompts into playable starter games, with public alpha publishing starting in New Zealand on July 28.
Roblox launched Build, a mobile-first AI feature that turns text prompts into playable starter games directly in the Roblox mobile app, the company said on July 16, 2026.
The tool pushes game creation from the desktop studio onto the phone, aiming to let far more of Roblox’s users build rather than only play. Build is powered by a mix of open-source and proprietary Roblox AI models and generates gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visual style and sound from a single prompt.
Select Build features, including publishing, enter public alpha in New Zealand on July 28, 2026, open to age-checked users 9 and older during the alpha. Published games will be available globally to age-checked users 16 and older after a safety review.
A base version is free, with premium options for power users. Roblox is also expanding related AI tools, including a Procedural Models generator and its Cube 3D foundation model.
Roblox has not said how capable the generated games are or how heavily creators must edit them, and the staged, age-gated rollout means most users will not see publishing for some time. Whether Build produces games people keep playing, rather than one-prompt novelties, will decide its value.
