SK hynix said its Solidigm subsidiary is reviewing ways to expand production capacity, but no matter has been decided after a report described a NAND flash memory plant in the United States.

In an SEC filing clarifying the report, SK hynix said its overseas subsidiary under the Solidigm brand was considering various measures to strengthen competitiveness and expand production capacity. The filing did not say those measures include a US plant.

The October 29 report cited in the filing described an investment of about 60 trillion won in a new US NAND production facility. SK hynix did not confirm the amount or the proposed facility.

NAND flash is storage memory used to retain data in phones, computers and data centers. Solidigm had also said in September that it had not decided on a specific course of action after reports of a possible US factory.

SK hynix said it would make another disclosure when specific details are confirmed or within one month of the October 29 report.
