OpenAI and Stack Overflow announce a new API partnership
OpenAI and StackOverflow recently announced a partnership that will enable both companies to improve the quality of their services by joining forces and leveraging StackOverflow's vast troves of vetted and accurate technical information and OpenAI's foundation models. As part of their agreement, OpenAI will be able to incorporate validated technical knowledge from Stack Overflow into ChatGPT, providing users with technical information and code sourced from "the world’s leading knowledge platform for highly technical content."
Additionally, OpenAI will gain access to the OverflowAPI to improve its models' performance using StackOverflow's high-quality enhanced content and feedback, while also crediting the StackOverflow when necessary. In parallel, Stack Overflow will profit from OpenAI's foundation models and consulting services to ensure the best possible performance of the models in OverflowAI's development, the company's specialized search assistant. By accelerating the development of improved products, the partnership with OpenAI will enable Stack Overflow to take the next step in "its mission to empower the world to develop technology through collective knowledge".
