Perplexity AI has introduced Perplexity Pages, a new feature that creates a customizable presentation on any topic based on user prompts. Free and paid users can find the option to generate Pages under the Library menu. Once prompted, Perplexity AI's search models will find the requested information and start writing a visually appealing presentation in a tone appropriate for the target audience previously specified by the user. The presentation will be complete with pertinent sections and visual media. Visuals can be user-uploaded, generated by Perplexity, or retrieved from the internet.

Once the presentation is finished, it can be shared via a link or the dedicated share button, and visitors to the webpage can ask follow-up questions directly within a text prompt. Perplexity pages are publishable and searchable through Google. Moreover, users can also transform their existing Perplexity threads into Pages with a single click. The tool has some limitations; for instance, users can edit the visuals selected by Perplexity and alter the structure of the presentation by adding, rearranging, or removing sections. However, it seems that the content of the sections cannot be edited directly and that any rewrites can only be done via prompting.

According to Perplexity, Pages are geared towards educators, researchers, and hobbyists to empower them to share their knowledge. At the same time, however, Perplexity seems to conceive Pages as an information curation feature and not a content creation one, something expected given how little control users have on modifying the actual content and how the important concepts are explained and broken down. It also seems that the information sources used for the Pages cannot be directly controlled, at least not yet. Pages will begin rolling out to users until it is generally available. Currently, Pages can only be created on the web but can be viewed on the web and mobile apps.
