Prophecta launches AI tool to optimize truck driving

Prophecta, a company marketing itself as using AI to optimize productivity in the workplace, recently announced the launch of its vehicle tracking algorithm to optimize costs, reduce emissions, and promote driver safety through coaching and incentives. More than an AI-powered navigation app, Prophecta's algorithm extends the capabilities of extending telematics solutions such as Geotab or Samsara. The Prophecta AI is focused on optimization through driving pattern modification: by tracking drivers in real-time, the system can detect performance below the baseline and suggest appropriate corrections. In a privately shared news release, Anatoly Volkhover, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, says "We focus squarely on cost reduction, with fuel savings of up to 40% just through driver behavior modification."

Drivers are incentivized to follow the algorithm's lead by receiving some of the generated savings. Assisted driving leads to increased use of equipment and workforce, and optimized route planning that considers fuel prices and terrain- and load-specific engine speed. Consequently, optimized routing and equipment usage improves safety, for instance, when operating under severe weather conditions.

"Our system tracks how each driver is performing in real time. Whenever the system detects suboptimal performance, it provides corrective recommendations. The drivers are motivated to follow the AI’s advice by receiving a portion of the generated savings. Optimizations lead to a significant reduction of idle time higher utilization of equipment and workforce, smart routing that considers fuel pricing, terrain- and loadspecific engine speed, improved safety, operating under severe weather conditions, and more," Volkhover adds.
