Read AI raised $50M and launched the Read AI for Gmail Chrome extension

Read AI is a startup that debuted in the meeting assistants and transcribers space, expanded towards email and message thread summarization, and has since been working on integrating its services into a comprehensive ecosystem. Its strategy to do this, and differentiate itself from the competition, is to first make its AI-powered agents everywhere, from meeting software like Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, to CRMs like Salesforce and Hubspot, and messaging apps like Gmail, Outlook, and Slack.

Then, once Read AI's agents start learning about important topics and connecting information from several sources, they can deliver summaries and insights from conversations on the same subject that took place across multiple apps or draft email responses that are contextualized on relevant information picked up from previous emails, messages, and meetings. Read AI's newest product, a Chrome extension called Read AI for Gmail, integrates directly into Gmail, bringing features like email thread summarization, message and meeting integration, and contextualized drafts.

In addition to its new product launch, Read AI recently shared it secured $50 million in a Series B round led by Smash Capital with the participation of Madrona and Goodwater Capital. This funding round is taking place about 6 months after Read AI's successful $21 million Series A round, for $81 million raised to date. Read AI's Series B comes at a time when the startup is experiencing promising growth, as it reports the creation of 100,000 new accounts weekly and an 81% first-month retention.
