Fleet management platform Samsara announced four new AI-driven products today designed to help government agencies, school districts, and public services modernize operations and improve community safety: Ground Intelligence, Waste Intelligence, an updated AI Multicam, and Ridership Management.

Ground Intelligence leverages Samsara's network of millions of connected assets to provide continuous, real-time visibility into road conditions. Currently, this translates into The system automatically detects potholes and hazards, allowing agencies to deploy repair crews proactively rather than relying on reactive city services calls. Additionally, Ground Intelligence's StreetSense feature enables real-time comprehensive visibility through connected Samara Dash Cams, enabling fast assessments and emergency deployments without physical scouting. Samsara plans to build additional features into Ground Intelligence, such as a risky intersection detection capability.

Waste Intelligence addresses common waste management challenges through multimodal AI that combines video and sensor data. The system automatically documents service events, detects overfilled commercial containers for accurate billing, and will soon identify recycling contamination at the point of collection—eliminating hours of manual documentation and resolving customer disputes in seconds.

The updated AI Multicam and Ridership Management products are geared towards public services vehicles, such as transit and school buses, and other vehicles which operate in critical contexts. In addition to its pedestrian detection feature, the expanded AI Multicam now includes detection of rear collision risks and vehicles potentially in the blind spots, providing 360-degree visibility for public works vehicles. Moreover, the Ridership Management product delivers real-time passenger accountability through digital manifests supporting RFID, bulk boarding, and manual entry methods. Photo-verified safety checks help ensure no riders are left behind, while automated reporting frees administrative staff from manual data entry.

The products were unveiled at Samsara's Go Beyond 2026 conference and reflect the company's broader push to help public sector agencies stretch budgets while meeting rising service demands.
