Belgian startup Tekst has secured $13.5 million (€11.5 million) in Series A funding led by Boston-based Elephant, with participation from Entourage. Founded in 2022 by Wouter Janssen and Tiebe Parmentier, the Ghent-based company is tackling a critical gap in enterprise AI adoption.

While foundation models have become increasingly powerful, most enterprise AI projects stall in pilot phase. Tekst argues the problem isn't the technology—it's that AI agents lack understanding of how business processes actually work. The unwritten rules, exceptions, and customer-specific workflows that employees rely on live in emails, PDFs, and institutional knowledge, not in systems of record.

Tekst's "Process Intelligence" platform automatically reconstructs end-to-end workflows by observing digital trails, then enables AI agents to operate within that context. At Becton Dickinson, the platform achieved 90% autonomous handling within three weeks on processes the company had struggled to automate internally.

The startup focuses initially on quote-to-cash processes, with customers including Daikin Europe, Colruyt Group, and Nokia. Tekst plans to double its 35-person team by the end of this year. Its future plans include expanding into procure-to-pay processes and claims handling.
