TikTok launched Symphony Avatars, AI Dubbing, and the Symphony Collective

Building on the launch of the ad solutions suite Symphony at TikTok World 2024, TikTok recently made three new announcements related to its efforts at integrating generative AI into its platform: the launch of Symphony Digital Avatars and AI Dubbing, as well as the creation of the Symphony Collective: Industry Advisory Board, an initiative geared towards discussing the role of AI within the creative marketing industry, and more specifically, providing feedback about TikTok's AI solutions.

Symphony Digital Avatars provides brands and creators the tools to enhance their branded content with generative AI avatars of real people. TikTok has introduced two types of Avatars: Stock and Custom. Stock Avatars were pre-built by TikTok using paid actors and are licensed for commercial use. Any business or individual can use them to enhance their contact to add Avatars from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, available in more than 30 languages. On the other hand, Custom Avatar creation gives brand spokespeople and creators the tools to leverage their likenesses to construct personalized multi-language avatars to expand their reach and unlock international collaborations.

Another tool meant to expand the reach of brands and creators to untapped audiences is Symphony AI Dubbing, an AI-powered translation tool that allows creators and marketing professionals to translate their content into over 10 languages and dialects. AI Dubbing detects a video's original language, transcribes it, translates it, and produces a video dubbed in the targeted language.

Finally, as an additional measure to ensure the responsible development and use of AI tools in creative marketing, TikTok announced the creation of the Symphony Collective: Industry Advisory Board. The initiative's founding members are diverse content creators and thought leaders which include representatives from major global brands Mondelez, American Eagle, Wendy's, and the NBA; marketing agencies OMD, Tinuiti, Day One, Tool, VaynerMedia, and TBWA Chiat; and individual creators including Drea Okeke, David Ma, Michelle Gonzales, and O'Neil Thomas. The Symphony Collective will provide TikTok with critical feedback about its AI-powered tools and will conduct an open forum to discuss more general industry-related topics.
